Taking a look at spring training chances for the minor leaguers – Part 1
With spring training getting underway this Saturday for our Reds (well, the pitchers and catchers at least. Position players show up next Thursday) , I thought I would take a look at the prospects/minor leaguers who are heading to spring training and talk about their chances to break camp with the big league team. There are 21 players who still have prospect eligibility. Today I...

Reds sign former first-rounder Brackman
The Cincinnati Reds have reached an agreement with right-hander Andrew Brackman on a one-year deal.
Brackman was a September call up of the New York Yankees last season and pitched in three games. But the team declined his contract option this winter.
Brackman was selected in the first round of the 2007 draft by the Yankees despite needing reconstructive elbow surgery.
The Cincinnati...

Yankees former 1st rounder Brackman signs with the Reds
It was a little surprising when the Yankees didn’t pick up Andrew Brackman‘s option this offseason, but considering it was worth $2 million and he took a giant step backwards last season it wasn’t totally without merit.
Still, I wanted to see the Yankees re-sign him for maybe a lesser deal, but instead he has signed a major league contract with the Cincinnati Reds...

Baseball’s Most Expensive Draft Bust
Draft picks are going to bust far more often than not in this game — even highly-touted first rounders. The further away you get from the top of the first round, though, the more the bust potential increases. Few first rounders have busted as hard as Andrew Brackman, not just in terms of his failure to contribute to the team that drafted him, but also in terms of how much he cost...

Yankees Release 2007 1st Round Draft Pick Andrew Brackman
In a bit of an unexpected move today Brian Cashman told reporters that the Yankees have not exercised their option on their 2007 1st round draft pick Andrew Brackman, making him a free agent.
The Yankees were considered fortunate when they drafted Brackman so late in the 1st round (he was 30th overall), but they got him thanks to an arm injury that he eventually needed Tommy John...

Yankees’ Andrew Brackman Returning Today
One of the most impressive young pitchers early in camp was the 6-11 Andrew Brackman, ,but unfortunately for the young giant he suffered a groin injury that would hurt his chances from winning a rotation spot out of spring.
Now just one and a half weeks later Brackman is ready to return to the mound and continue that battle for the...

Andrew Brackman: Next Yankees Closer?
Will Andrew Brackman enter the discussion as the next Yankees' closer?
For the record, when it comes to a starter vs. reliever debate, I am almost always going to be in the starter camp. Each situation is unique but, generally, I believe a solid starter is more valuable than a solid reliever. With that said, I’ve been intrigued by the idea of Andrew Brackman taking over as...

Yankees Andrew Brackman Scouting Report
The Yankees considered themselves fortunate when they drafted the 6’10″ right handed pitcher Andrew Brackman in the 1st round of the 2007 draft. He was expected to go much higher, but injury concerns caused him to call to the Yankees 30th overall.
He immediately had elbow surgery and didn’t pitch until 2009 in Low-A. That season he went 2-12 with an unimpressive...
