If you happen to go in another direction other than OF with your first two sections, Have no fear. There are plenty of value plays with huge upside potential lurking deep in the draft. For the sake of this piece we will define value as outperforming there ADP.
Andrew McCutchen ADP 26.58
This will probably be the last time you can draft this budding star outside the second round...

Trade With Pirates Treasure Room: Kershaw Reigns and Other Fun Stuff.
I completed my second swap with Brian of Pirates Treasure Room, who has the most insane Andrew McCutchen collection I've ever seen and a Gerrit Cole PC I'm massively jealous of. I sent Brian a Bryan Bullington on-card rookie auto a while back, and before our trade could be completed our blogging Brian became severely ill. Thankfully, he's all better now, and I'm happy to see him...

Pittsburgh Pirates: GM Continues Indirect McCutchen Bashing

I know the majority of my articles are about Pirates’ GM Neal Huntington, and the Pirates’ much-maligned ownership in general. I honestly don’t set out to do so; I would love to write more positive stories about the Pirates, but:
1. It can be trying to glean positivity from a team that’s a lock to lose...

ATTENTION PIRATE FANS: Please be nice to Andrew McCutchen's girlfriend
So the Steelers played this football game tonight, and it kind of had a lame ending if you're a Steeler fan. Maybe you heard about it. If you know anything about the internet, you know that it more or less caught on fire like a fetid pile of gabage in the immediate aftermath, with two sides being drawn: pro-Tebow and anti-Tebow. You probably know how it unfolded from there. Some...

Andrew McCutchen Career Triple-Slash Lines By Month
I got bored today. That's never a good thing for people who hate baseball and math. Anyways, what I did was compiled Andrew McCutchen's batting average (AVG), on-base percentage (OBP), slugging percentage (SLG), and on-base plus slugging (OPS) numbers and organized them by the month of the year. I discounted his first half season in the major leagues in 2009, so this is just data...

Andrew McCutchen's extension
Andrew McCutchen, talking to the Post-Gazette about an extension with the Pirates:
"We definitely want to work something out but that's nothing that I can control right now," he said. "All I can do is get ready for the season and get things right. I'll let everything else take care of itself."
Of course, it's not really true that he can't control...

Andrew McCutchen’s Extension Value
What would an Andrew McCutchen extension be worth?
One of the big topics this off-season is whether the Pittsburgh Pirates will extend their top player, Andrew McCutchen. McCutchen is entering his final year of league minimum pay. He will be arbitration eligible in 2013, and will be eligible for free agency after the 2015 season if no extension is reached.
The topic of a McCutchen...

Why an Andrew McCutchen Deal Would Be Impossible
Earlier we heard a rumor from Keith Law that the Pittsburgh Pirates would listen on center fielder Andrew McCutchen. Since that report came out, we’ve heard from Dejan Kovacevic that the Pirates aren’t trading McCutchen and have no intention of doing so. Law’s report never said the team was shopping McCutchen, just that he isn’t untouchable for the right...

The Pirates aren’t going to trade Andrew McCutchen
ESPN’s Keith Law briefly sent the internets into a frenzy this afternoon with an Insider post saying he heard “the Pirates would at least listen [to trade offers] on Andrew McCutchen.”
That shouldn’t mean much because every GM should be willing to “at least listen” to ANY trade offer…but it still created quite a bit of buzz.

Pirates Would Listen on Andrew McCutchen
Keith Law of ESPN hears that the Pittsburgh Pirates don’t consider Andrew McCutchen untouchable, and would listen to offers for the center fielder. McCutchen just finished his second full season in the majors, hitting for a .259/.364/.456 line with 23 homers in 572 at-bats. He’s currently the only impact player on the Pirates’ roster, and is easily their best offensive...
