BEN SHEETS RUMORS & GOSSIP

What happened to Ben Sheets?

During the past week and a half we've spent a lot of time discussing various pitchers connected to the Yankees. I wanted to switch gears for a change of pace and take a look at a pitcher who (a) I've been advocating for for quite some time; (b) I wanted the Yankees to sign last offseason; and (c) they will have absolutely zero interest in because after a fairly middling comeback...

Dear Ben Sheets, Come Onnnn

Now I will be the first one to defend Ben Sheets performance this year and I have done so on many occasions.  He may not have pitched very well for us, going 4-9 over 20 games with a 4.53 ERA, but he was a great dugout presence.   He was often seen pushing younger pitchers, and he never lost his competitive spirit, which is a whole lot coming from a guy who is really struggling...

Ben Sheets Retirement Rumors: RHP remains uncertain if he’ll pitch again

Right-handed pitcher Ben Sheets will undergo flexor-tendon surgery next week in Dallas with Dr. Ketih Meister, according to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle. The tendon will be anchored to the bone differently than it was the first time, when it was sutured. As far as his pitching career goes, “My arm will tell me,” he said. Slusser reported in late July that Sheets...

So Long and Thanks for all the Fish

Well we took a gamble and boy did we lose, Ben Sheets is out for the year with a torn flexor tendon in his right elbow, pictured here.  Now I am the last guy to hate on Ben Sheets, I think he is a terrific human being and that his club house demeanor helped the team a lot this year.  While his performances on the field may have been less than desirable, at least he was genuinely...

A’s Place Sheets On DL

The Oakland A’s were dealt another blow, as Ben Sheets was placed on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to July 20). The A’s veteran pitcher is out due to an elbow injury. In fact, it’s the same elbow that caused Sheets to miss the entire 2009 season. The A’s, who have been adressing trade rumors involving Sheets, are uncertain where the veteran stands at now. The A...

Ben Sheets Back on Disabled List; Season in Jeopardy

Filed under: Athletics , MLB Injuries Ben Sheets is back on the disabled list, and he might not come off it this year. The oft-injured Oakland starter has been having trouble with his elbow -- the same one that kept him out all of last season as he rehabbed from surgery -- and will miss at least the next two weeks. But the prognosis could be much worse than that. Asked by a San Francisco...

Ben Sheets headed to disabled list – could miss rest of the season

Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle says that right-handed pitcher Ben Sheets is headed to the disabled list. Sheets said his elbow has been too swollen in his past two or three starts, and it’s possible that he might miss the rest of the year. Sheets’ name has come up on the rumor mill and has become a target for the Phillies and the Twins. GM Billy Beane has said the...

Will Sheets Regain Old Form?

Remember that $10 million contract that the penny-pinching Athletics gave to former four-time NL All-Star, Ben Sheets? Well, after the first month of the season, critics of A’s GM, Billy Beane, would probably say that the A’s paid way too much for Sheets. While the optimist inside of me is telling me that Sheets will rebound, my [...]
