Ben Zobrist Player Projection No. 62
Key Stats: Ben Zobrist has been ranked 41st and 39th according to the Yahoo player rater in two out of the last three seasons. Last season he did not hit for as many home runs as he did in his breakout 2009 season, but he did have a career best 46 doubles - good for third in the AL.
Skeptics Say: Even though the 2009 and 2011 seasons appear to indicate Zobrist is a consistent player...

Player Profile #74: Ben Zobrist | 2B/OF | TB
Remember that Rays-Twins doubleheader on April 28 when Ben Zobrist erupted for 10 RBI, going 7-for-10 with two homers, five runs scored and a stolen base? I do. If you remove that one day from Zobrist’s 2011 stat line, he finishes the season with a line of 95 runs, 18 homers, 81 RBI, 18 steals and a .261 average. Those stats would have ranked 85th last season instead of 40th...

Flair, Faith, and the Zen of Zobrist
There are very few Rays players more fascinating than Ben Zobrist. We in the Rays community know his story: marginally successful utility player tinkers with his swing and becomes one of the most under the radar versatile all-round all-stars in baseball today. I’ve even written about Zobrist before in regards to his fan base.
The problem with Zobrist is that he has a low “gut...

Still Alive: Zobrist, Longoria lead Rays over Red Sox, keep playoff hopes alive
The Rays are not dead yet. They have failed to sweep Boston, but a series win would bring them within 2 games of the Wild Card lead. That’s what the Rays have the opportunity to do after rebounding from Friday’s loss with a 4-3 win on Saturday.

Ben Zobrist, Stealth MVP Candidate (Again)
He’s a .266 hitter, has just nine homers, and plays for a third-place team. Yet for the second time in three seasons, Ben Zobrist is emerging as an MVP candidate. A deep sleeper, no-way-in-hell-anyone-will-ever-vote-for-him MVP candidate.
With the Rays’ 4-3 loss to the Reds today in the books, Zobrist is now hitting .266/.349/.472. Yet those numbers belie his status as one...

After being mired in a yearlong slump in 2010 and sleepwalking through the first few weeks of 2011, we watched the mighty Zorilla destroy the Twins and set the team record for most RBIs...
