Giants sign P Bonser to minor league deal
The New York Giants signed righthander Boof Bonser to a minor league contract.
Bonser was in the New York Mets organization last season when he injured his elbow and underwent Tommy John surgery.
He is expected to be sidelined at the beginning of the 2012 season.
Bonser made just two appearances for the Boston Red Sox in 2010 before being designated for assignment June 18.

According to Andy McCullough of The New York Star-Ledger, Boof Bonser, the former San Francisco Giants prospect and current Mets minor league pitcher, has decided to undergo Tommy John surgery. Boof Bonser would be a better option then Carrasco in the rotation...
I said in this post that after recent off-seasons there was this fear in the back of my head that they would make excuses all off-season until we ended up with Boof Bonser as our fifth starter. While I have more faith in this new front office, then the past who would have stalled all off-season to say in the end "nothing made sense", there have been some warning signs....
