From the Wire ... Braden Looper to Announce Retirement

According to multiple reports, Braden Looper announced his retirement Friday after being told he would not break camp with the Chicago Cubs. Looper sat out last season and was hoping to catch on with the Cubs this spring. Looper was one of the last pitchers in Cubs camp with a shot to make the Opening Day roster. With Looper out of the mix, the Cubs' Spring Training roster stands at 30 players.
