GIANTS BEAT / Medders on DL, Casilla up
In one forgettable inning in Arizona on Wednesday, Brandon Medders saw his ERA balloon from 3.86 to 7.20. Struggling with his velocity and mechanics, he surrendered six runs on six hits, including two homers. His surgically repaired right knee was failing...

Another Day, Another Win
It really doesn’t get much better than today’s game, plain and simple. After a loss highlighted by a botched double-play and the continuing existence of Brandon Medders on the 25-man roster, the Giants needed to rebound to avoid losing the series to the Pirates. And rebound they did.
Winning makes me feel a little like this
The day was won by the best non-no-hitter...

Whoa, who expected THAT? A sweep of the Houston Astros IN HOUSTON. The starters weren’t scored upon for their first 16 innings of work over 3 games. Only Brandon Medders was anything less than superb on the hill. Speaking of Medders, that is one situation we’ll be monitoring all season—how many times the Giants go...

Why Brandon Medders Is Expendable to the Giants Bullpen
I'm not bashing Brandon Medders and his performance in 2009 by any means. I thought he was a surprising reliever in 2009. He had a great May where he posted a FIP of 2.85, and a solid Septmber/October where he had a FIP of 3.16, and proved to be an integral part of the Giants' success last year. What made Medders such a great signing was that he happened to be an unknown,...

Medders earns unusual job security
Though Brandon Medders doesn't have an odd haircut or an unusual delivery, he's among the most distinctive relievers in the Major Leagues. The Giants valued him enough to offer him arbitration before agreeing to a guaranteed contract.
