Tigers Prospect Profile #27: Cale Iorg
The time has come for Cale Iorg; after years of floundering in the Tigers' farm system as an uber-talented prospect that has been long on projection and short on results, Iorg has reached his put up or shut up season. Will he be fully recovered from off-season shoulder surgery, and can he find a way to reach that potential?

After running into screen, Iorg's day improves
Cale Iorg's day wasn't looking too good in the morning. For that matter, he wasn't looking very good after his collision with a batting screen behind second base. After a second-innign RBI double, his day was looking up.

Tigers Add Cale Iorg, Others, to 40-Man Roster
The Detroit Tigers announced today via their official twitter account that Shortstop Cale Iorg has been added to the 40-man roster, thus protecting him from the Rule V draft. I had speculated in late October that the Tigers might leave him unprotected, but they obviously have more faith in Iorg’s development than I do.

Tigers Prospect Cale Iorg Struggling in AFL
Cale Iorg has been a lightening rod of consternation for the better part of three years as a shortstop in the Tigers organization. Despite the fact that his physical tools, and his defensive wizardry keep the scouts drooling, Iorg has never been able to progress into any kind of a hitter.
Iorg has spent his entire career swinging and missing. In 362 minor league games, Iorg has...

Call-Ups and Hang-Ups: Detroit Tigers and Cale Iorg
Once again it is collaborative post time here on Call to the Pen. This month’s topic is September call-ups. To get the ball rolling, I posed the following question to each of our Lead Writers, “Which player do you want your team to call-up in September and why?” It is a simple question but I think you will find the responses to be very diverse.

No Ryan Dempster for Canada at the WBC
I wonder why Dempster has decided not to play??
Who’s on first? Votto or Morneau, Votto could play the outfield. Bay, Votto and Teaghen in the outfield works for me. Stairs can DH.
Cale Iorg is on Canada’s roster, I’m guessing he is the son of Garth, looks like he would have been born in Toronto just [...]
