Pavano to start opener for Twins
The Minnesota Twins have tabbed Carl Pavano to be this year's opening day starter.
The 36-year-old Pavano went 9-13 with a 4.30 ERA in 33 starts for the Twins last season.
He had a 17-11 record and 3.75 ERA in 32 starts in 2010 for Minnesota.
Pavano has a career 106-102 record with five different teams.

Pavano gets back in the win column
Finally, Minnesota Twins starter Carl Pavano is back in the win column.
Prior to Friday's game against the Los Angeles Angels, Pavano hadn't won since before the All-Star break, when he defeated the White Sox on July 7. But following Friday's 13-5 win over the Angels, Pavano has snapped his streak of winless outings at nine to improve to 7-11 on the season.

Carl Pavano, bad investment?
When the Twins waited and waited this offseason to sign Carl Pavano I was all for it. I was not a fan of a three year commitment worth anywhere near the $30 million that was originally rumored. I think the Twins new darn well he wouldn’t pitch well enough to be worth $30 million and now I am starting to wonder if he is worth the two years and $16.5 million he ended up getting paid...
