5/13 Minor League Report! Mejia!
Buffalo 1, Gwinnett 9
Not much to say about this one. The Bisons were bootstomped, right from the outset, with Brandon Knight giving up 5 runs in 5 innings, and then Carlos Muniz putting the game out of reach giving up 4 UER in the 6th. The Bisons were held to 5 hits, by Angel Pagan [...]

5/9 Minor League Report! BOWMAN, PELLOT, DOYLE, Ratliff!
Buffalo 1, Norfolk 5
Kyle Snyder got tagged with the loss, giving up just an UER over 4 innings (thanks to a Jose Coronado error). Carlos Muniz continues to be very subpar in relief for the Bisons, he’s now given up 7 earned runs in his last 3 innings, and has a 7.62 era on the [...]

Scranton Remains Unbeaten - and Mark Melancon Needs to be Promoted
The Quadruple A Yankees continued their winning ways today as their dominant bullpen shut down the opposition once again. In Buffalo, NY, the Yankees scored two runs in the top of the 11th inning off Mets reliever Carlos Muniz for a 5-3 victory to go 6-0 on the young season.
Austin Jackson led off the top of [...]

Starters cont. to struggle
Another day and another starter struggles, I hope they get it all out of their systems in spring training otherwise we won't need our vaunted bullpen. It sure is quite a statement when the guy called inventory at the start of spring is now pitching like the second best starter on the team. Johan Santana looks brilliant and Livan Hernandez keeps chugging ( seemed like a fitting...

Muniz has a new pitch....
Carlos Muniz was a standout collegiate closer who dominated the lower levels of the minors. But at 27 y/o with less then 30 major league appearances ( ERA 5.63) and a high 3 ERA in AAA last year, you have to wonder whether he will make as a major league reliever. Muniz must be feeling the clock ...

Update on call-up pitchers
While Luis Ayala was giving me agita trying to get the last out of what had become too close a game, Al Reyes was closing out a game in Binghamton. For Reyes it was his third scoreless inning in as many games and his first save. While Ayala showed a lot of resilience to finish off the game I would rather have Reyes experience closing until Wagner returns....The Zephyrs had several...

Time To Do Something With Perez?
The Mets designated Claudio Vargas for assignment after last night disgraceful 11-0 loss to the lowly Seattle Mariners. Carlos Muniz was recalled to take his spot on the roster. I don't think this move had much to do with his disappointing performance in last night's game as Vargas had been pitching pretty well before that. Rather I think the Mets may finally be preparing...
