Tiger to Recall Casey Fien
After a double header this past Saturday that was followed by a short start on Sunday and a 14-inning game on Monday, the Tigers are using Brandon Inge’s injury to add reinforcements to the bullpen, at least for today.

Detroit Tigers - Signed P Casey Fien to a minor-league contract.
So ends Replacement Level Reliever: 2010 Tour as the former Tiger/Blue Jay/Red Sox reliever (on paper) fiens his way back to Detroit after a month of waiver wire Hot Potato. I still have Fien projected at a 5.31 ERA and given that the Tiger bullpen isn't the most exciting, could end up back in the majors at some point.

Casey Fien Removed from Roster
The Tigers designated reliever Casey Fien for assignment yesterday to make room for Johnny Damon on the 40 man roster. This means that Fien will now either be traded, lost to another team through waivers or outrighted to AAA. Any team that acquires Fien on waivers will have to add him to its 40 man roster. Tigers Minor League Wrap 8/18/09
Scott Drucker was rocked for 7 runs in 3 innings but Matt Rusch, Zach Simons, and Casey Fien followed with 6 innings of shut out ball. Mike Hessman hit his 19th homer and doubled. Scott Sizemore went 2 for 4 with a double and a walk. Brent Dlugach was a homer short of the cycle and added a walk.

Casey Fien gets the call
Casey Fien had his contract purchased and will join the team tomorrow. He’ll technically take the place of Eddie Bonine, but practically take the place of Freddy Dolsi.
Fien has been nails for the last 2 months and since the end of May he has pitched 23.2 innings with 28 strike outs and only 7 walks. [...]
