CHA-SEUNG BAEK RUMORS

Baek, Hill, Floyd out; De La Cruz in for Pads

The Padres have released three players — right-handed pitchers Cha Seung Baek and Shawn Hill and outfielder Cliff Floyd — who spent the majority of the season on the disabled list.

Padres Release Cha Seung Baek

MLBTR has learned that the Padres released righty Cha Seung Baek. The Korean hasn't pitched since last year, when he split time between the Mariners and Padres.

Hamels dominates, Phillies offense explodes for two runs

On Sunday, the Orioles scored 16 runs, the Yankees and Blue Jays racked up 15 and the White Sox plated 13 runs. But, the true offensive heroes of the day were the Philadelphia Phillies, who managed to score a whopping 2 runs in their 2-1 victory over the Padres. San Diego sent Cha Seung Baek and his 5+ ERA to the mound but he was no match for the Phillies' sluggers. Ok...

Sunday thread: Phillies headline prime time game

We're opening the board today to discuss last night's game and tonight's 8 p.m. showdown on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball. Around 10 p.m., be sure to flip on ESPN2 to see where I'll be spending the day. Tonight, Cole Hamels (9-8, 3.32) takes the mound in his home town seeking his first win since July 3 when the Phillies and Padres conclude their series in San Diego. Right-hander Cha...

No offense, the Phillies stink

Me thinks yes.But the story of the night was Pirate pitcher/Cuban defector Yoslan...

Game 74: Tigers at Padres

PREGAME: The Tigers will look to bounce back from another late inning collapse. They'll send out Nate Robertson who pitched 6 innings of shut down ball spanning a rain delay his last time out. The Padres send out Cha Seung Baek. You may remember him from a Seattle Mariner beat-down. Baek got [...]

Bedard scratched from Sundays start

Seattle Mariners pitcher Erik Bedard has been scratched from his Sunday start with what the team is calling hip inflammation. This start was supposed to take place against his former team the Baltimore Orioles. I'm sure there will be some speculation that the team is protecting him

Thursday Notes: Bench, Baek, Beltre Hurt

Mike Morse still is the frontrunner for the final bench spot, despite a nice game by Greg Norton. Cha Seung Baek will opt for free agency if he doesn't make the big club. Adrian Beltre has an injured thumb.
