Chris Pettit's homer on Saturday was a special moment for him and the Angels, especially considering how far he's come since he suffered a shoulder injury in a collision at home plate in the Dominican Winter League following the 2009 season.

The Angels have lost 25-year old righty swinging outfielder Chris Pettit for the 2010 season. He underwent surgery earlier today to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder. Pettit to have season-ending surgery
Nursing a shoulder ailment resulting from a baserunning mishap in the Dominican Republic in November, Chris Pettit learned on Tuesday that he will undergo surgery to repair a torn labrum on March 16 and will be out for the season, requiring six to nine months of rehab.
