Seventh Inning Rally Gives M’s Series Win
Pinch hitter Chris Shelton became the hero tonight, delivering an RBI single to give the Mariners a 4-3 lead with two outs in the seventh inning. After a quick two outs, Ken Griffey Jr. reached on an infield single, and Franklin Gutierrez grounded a base hit up the middle.

Pinch-hitter Chris Shelton and Rob Johnson hit consecutive RBI singles with two out in the seventh inning, leading the Seattle Mariners to a 5-3 win over the Texas Rangers on Sunday.

Chris Shelton delivers a critical victory to Mariners, who take series from Texas Rangers
That's David Aardsma in the photo above, closing out the ninth for his 20th save in 22 opportunities.
Chris Shelton could not have picked a better time to deliver for the Mariners, coming through with a pinch-hit single to left field in the seventh inning. That snapped a tie game and Seattle went on to score twice that inning for a huge 5-3 win over the Texas Rangers.

I’m not the one who said that. Instead it was the Seattle Post Intelligencer which reports that Chris Shelton “will enter camp with an excellent chance to make the Opening Day roster” despite being one of 17 non-roster players invited to spring training by the Mariners.

The Rangers would be looking for Jeremy Bonderman and Chris Shelton in return. If 'MLB Rumors Periscope' is correct, Chris Shelton is the player holding up the deal. Detroit isn't quite ready to give up on 'Red Pop' just yet.

Casey to Detroit, Shelton to the minors
Detroit acquired Pittsburgh Pirates' first baseman Sean Casey in exchange for minor-league pitcher Brian Rogers. To make room for Casey, the Tigers optioned Chris Shelton to Triple-A Toledo.
Casey's a much steadier hitter than Shelton, but he's got no pop for a first baseman - only three homers on the season, though he has a much higher OBP (.377 to .343) than Shelton...
