Will Baltimore Trade Chris Tillman?
Ed Wolfstein/Icon SMI
One of the big questions marks for the Orioles heading into 2012 is their starting rotation. Outside of Jeremy Guthrie, there isn’t a single player who is guaranteed a spot. Even Brian Matusz may not be guaranteed a spot, given his ugly performance in 2011. Which is why the news that the Orioles may be open to trading Chris Tillman came as quite the surprise...

2011 Orioles Retrospective: Chris Tillman
Chris Tillman started the season in the starting rotation, and actually managed to hang around in the majors until the end of May. At that point, with a 4.69 ERA in 10 starts, Tillman was sent down to Triple-A. That's where he spent most of the season, before being called by up for a short stretch at the end of July (three starts - one good, two bad) and then sent back down to end...

Another Loss and Yet More Inconsistency...
One has to wonder, will pitcher Chris Tillman ever figure things out as a pitcher at the major league level? After a decent start last week, Tillman once again found a way to struggle as the White Sox beat the Orioles, 6-3. Tillman gave up six earned runs in only 2 2/3 innings; in the opening frame, he gave up four runs and seemingly was throwing batting practice. He was throwing...

O's Tillman shelled, sent to minors
Baltimore Orioles righthander Chris Tillman was sent to Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday night, right after another poor outing.
Tillman surrendered six runs, eight hits and three in 2 2/3 innings of a 6-3 loss to the White Sox. In his last four outings, Tillman has given up 17 runs, 26 hits and eight walks over 18 1/3 innings.
Tillman fell to 3-5 with a 5.52 ERA this season...

Chris Tillman is Getting A Bad Rap
"Where do I need to put that horseshoe again?"All across the media, everyone is talking about what happened to Chris Tillman yesterday. Evidently, he was thrashed, rocked and hammered by the Kansas City lineup yesterday. But while Tillman's boxscore was plenty ugly, I wonder if the authors of those headlines actually watched the game.I did. Twice. And while Tillman was not as sharp...

Royals Take Series From Orioles; Tillman Just Plain Awful...
It was an ugly showing for the Baltimore Orioles as they got trounced by the Kansas City Royals, 9-1, this afternoon. They only got four hits – all singles – and Chris Tillman, who started the game on the mound for Baltimore struggled. Again. Adam Jones drove in the only run for Baltimore during first inning and the offense was putrid. Enough said. I don’t know what to say...

B-Rob and Nick the Stick Help O's Defeat Rays; Tillman is Excellent in 1st Start of Season
What a game! Has the run of last season continued? Granted, it’s only been two games – but what an effort so far. The Orioles moved to 2-0 on the season as they defeated the Tampa Bay Rays, 3-1. In a game that featured several heroes, Brian Roberts hit a three-run homer in the eighth inning to break a shutout and Nick Markakis made an incredible catch – robbing Ben Zobrists’s...

Chris Tillman Takes a Step
The Orioles went to 2-0 last night as they continued to get amazing performances from all areas. Jeremy Guthrie threw 8 shutouts innings Friday night. Brian Roberts tripling Friday and hitting a three-run homer last night. The great defensive plays by Felix Pie, Matt Wieters and, of course Nick Markakis. And last night, Chris Tillman, a guy whose spot in the rotation was in jeopardy...

Impressions from Today's Games: Britton and Tillman
The Orioles had quite a mixed bag from their young starting pitchers on Monday, as they played two split squad games in one day. Baltimore moved to 4-3-2 in exhibition baseball action as they played to a 0-0 tie to the New York Yankees in the night cap. I saw the game on MLB.tv last night and young Zach Britton looked good despite a few hiccups in his start. He went three innings...

Attack, Chris Tillman, Attack!
After watching Chris Tillman last night, time for me to state the obvious, with graphs. The first is from Tillman's disastrous outing last night. The second is from his masterful performance against the Rangers on July 10th.PitchFx graphs courtesy of BrooksBaseball.net...)A few observations...1) Tillman was wilder last night, not around the zone as much as he was against Texas.2)...
