The San Diego Padres have signed left-hander Clayton Richard to a one-year, $2.7 million contract, the team announced Monday.
Richard went 5-9 with a 3.88 ERA in 18 starts last season. His campaign was cut short because of shoulder surgery on July 29.

Padres left-hander Clayton Richard will miss the rest of the season after undergoing arthroscopic shoulder surgery on Friday.
