Craig Biggio and Tris Speaker are the only two players in the history of Major League Baseball to steal 50 bases and hit 50 doubles in the same year. Tris Speaker did so in 1912 with a .383/.464/.567 line. 86 short years later Biggio joined the 50/50 mark in 1998 with a .325/.403/.503 line.

Many, if not all, Astros fans will remember where they were when Craig Biggio hit number 3,000. People will save newspaper clippings, re-watch the game on TiVo, buy commemorative shirts or posters, etc. But one sportswriter will remember the game in an entirely different light.
