DENNY BAUTISTA RUMORS

Death March to the Top of the NL West

A lot has happened since I last posted here at Croix De Candlestick.  The Giants swept the Dodgers in an inspirational series at home, sending the Bums back to LA a broken team.  They split series against the Marlins and Rockies while the Padres continue to drop big games.  Now in Atlanta, the Giants face their biggest challenge in the last month. Denny Bautista: physical embodiment...

Can Denny Bautista and Santiago Casilla Invigorate the Giants Bullpen?

After coming back and beating the Nationals today 5-4, the Giants remained over .500 for the season at 24-22. While the record is still promising, the Giants have struggled in the month of May, alarming considering many of the teams in the NL West who flopped in April are starting to turn it around this month (e.g. Colorado, Los Angeles). Now, the Giants have offensive problems. No...

Minor League Roundup: 4-11-09

Catching up on some games from yesterday and this afternoon… AAA-Indianapolis (0-2) The Indians lost their second game of the year last night as Ty Taubenheim (0-0) pitched five innings and gave up two runs (one earned) on one hit and two walks. Ty also had four K’s. Chris Bootcheck pitched two solid innings, but Denny Bautista [...]

The Don Veal Dilemma

In 12 innings over 11 appearances, Don Veal's walked 13 hitters and struck out only 7. He's kept his ERA down nicely, mostly because he's only allowed 4 hits in the same span. Given Veal's recent struggles in the minors, I have to think that the Pirates can't be too pleased to see such poor control out of Veal in camp this spring. So what does the team do? Because Veal is a Rule...

Links

I've been waiting all off-season to see how some of the national guys rank the prospects in the Pirates system and yesterday, the first ranking came out. It's Kevin Goldstein's Top 11 for BP, and while it's behind a subsriber wall, everyone can see the actual list of the prospects. It's ...

Bucs sign Vazquez, drop Bautista

The Bucs made two moves in the last 24 hours or so that aren't terribly important, but they're moves nonetheless. The Vazquez signing became official, so if Freddy and Jack aren't traded it's likely down to Bixler and Cruz for one utility spot in the middle infield next year. I don't really see ...

Tigers trade Bautista

I didn't get a chance to touch on this last night because I had left for the game when the news hit. The Tigers traded Denny Bautista for Pittsburgh minor leaguer Kyle Pearson. With Bautista DFA'd the Tigers had 10 days to find a home for him. In exchange they get AA [...]SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: "Tigers trade Bautista", url: "http://www.detroittigersweblog.com/2008/06/tigers...
