In defense of a dull offseason
Slowey not SplashyHo hum. To the majority of the Cleveland Indians fan base, this has undoubtedly been a boring offseason. Especially when the Tribe’s offseason is compared to that of other teams. The Miami Marlins sign Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle and Heath Bell, while the Indians trade for a 38-year old Derek Lowe and his 5.05 ERA.The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim sign Albert Pujols...

Newly Acquired Derek Lowe Already Preparing for his Season with the Cleveland Indians
The off-season has already been a bit of a whirlwind for veteran right-handed pitcher Derek Lowe. In September, Lowe started five games for the Atlanta Braves, a month that ended with the sinker-ball pitcher boasting a tumultuous 8.75 ERA and a WHIP of 1.99 with the opposition hitting succeeding at a sky-high rate of .373. With his Atlanta Braves collapsing and infusing young...

Atlanta Braves send Derek Lowe to Cleveland Indians
Leave it to the Atlanta Braves to get the hot stove league started. The Boston Red Sox fired managers and let general managers go, but the Braves got down to the business that needed to be done. Last night, they sent Derek Lowe and ten million dollars to the Cleveland Indians for minor league lefty Chris Jones.
As we will do with all deals this winter, we will take a look at what...

The Braves Make Some Noise to Start the Offseason
The Atlanta Braves wasted no time in organizing their 2012 roster, making several key moves today, only three days after the end of the 2012 MLB season. Of these moves made by general manager Frank Wren, arguably the most notable was dealing away starting pitcher Derek Lowe. Lowe, who spent the last three years with the organization, was dealt today to the Cleveland...

Braves Trade Derek Lowe
So we’ve been hiding out for a little while trying to let the pains of the season slip away, but we’re here for a quick Halloween update.

Braves don't expect Lowe to be in rotation in 2012
Atlanta Braves general manager Frank Wren said he doesn't expect righthander Derek Lowe to be in the team's starting rotation next season.
Lowe capped off a miserable season by losing his final five starts to finish with a 9-17 record and 5.05 ERA.
The 38-year-old righthander had won at least 12 games in each of the previous nine seasons.
"Right now, the way we project...

Lowe is the Anti – Sabermetrics Pitcher
I have tried to be supportive of Derek Lowe. Watching what he did last September and October revealed to me that he still has value. He has shown glimpses this season of the potential that he has and the reason why the Atlanta Braves gave him the 4 year $60 million contract before the 2009 season. In my heart and mind, I have been hopeful that what I watch regularly was not true...

Don’t Punch Your Postseason Tickets Just Yet, Atlanta
What looked like a perfect opportunity for Derek Lowe to get back into a grove and the Atlanta Braves to pad their NL Wild Card lead turned into a complete nightmare last night when the Braves took on the lowly New York Mets, who sat eight games below .500 before the game. The scoring started early on for the Mets, as third basemen David Wright took...

Fredi Gonzalez May Have Figured Out How to Use Derek Lowe
The Atlanta Braves are in a tough situation with Derek Lowe. They have publicly proclaimed that Lowe is their big-game pitcher. Outside of last September and October, Lowe has not pitched like a big-game pitcher. The Braves are in a pennant race trying to either gain ground on the Philadelphia Phillies or hold off the San Francisco Giants and St. Louis Cardinals in the wild card...
