Bucs sign Doug Slaten
Yippee! Doug Slaten!
Slaten is a 31 year-old lefty reliever. He was decent in limited action with the Nats over the last two years, but missed some time with an elbow injury. He should add a little bit of lefty depth in the bullpen – the Bucs don’t have much of it right now behind Tony Watson, Daniel Moskos, and possibly J0-Jo Reyes.

Nationals to send LHP Slaten to disabled list
The Washington Nationals are expected to place reliever Doug Slaten on the disabled list.
Manager Jim Riggleman told the Washington Post that he feared the lefthander was ailing, but did not divulge the specific injury.
The 31-year-old Slaten has posted an 0-1 mark with two holds and a 2.19 ERA in 23 appearances this season.

Nationals agree to terms with Doug Slaten
According to Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post, the Nationals have avoided arbitration with left handed pitcher Doug Slaten by agreeing to a one-year deal worth $695,000 plus incentives. Slaten will make a $5,000 bonus once he reaches 60 innings and an additional $12,500 if he reaches 70 innings.

The Washington Nationals have claimed left-handed reliever Doug Slaten off waivers from the Arizona Diamondbacks. Nationals General Manager Mike Rizzo, the former director of scouting for Arizona (2000-06), made the announcement.
