The Reds are going to have some decisions to make soon with respect to the forty-man roster. The roster must be set by November 20, and the Reds current 40-man (see here) is not only full, but there are four guys on the 60-day disabled list who do not count against the roster limit...

Reds right-hander Edinson Volquez is expected to miss a year after having reconstructive surgery on his right elbow.
Volquez had surgery Monday to repair a torn ligament and other damage in his pitching elbow.

Edinson Volquez has Tommy John Surgery, will miss 12 months
The Cincinnati Reds announced today that Edinson Volquez had Tommy John surgery and will be out about 12 months. This makes things even harder for 2010.
