Jays plan to use Encarnacion as utility player
The Blue Jays plan to use Edwin Encarnacion all over the diamond next season.
The infielder who mostly was the designated hitter for Toronto last season played 36 games at third base and 25 at first, along with 70 as the DH.

Blue Jays pick up Encarnacion's option
The Toronto Blue Jays have picked up their $3.5 million contract option on infielder Edwin Encarnacion for next season and declined an option on reliever Jon Rauch.
The 28-year-old Encarnacion appeared in 134 games as a third baseman, first baseman and designated hitter last season. He hit .272 with 36 doubles, 17 home runs and 55 RBIs.

Blue Jays sign Edwin Encarnacion to one-year deal
According to Jerry Crasnick of ESPN, the Toronto Blue Jays have signed Edwin Encarnacion to a one-year contract. The deal is for $2.5 million with a club option for 2012.
