SF Giants Rumors: One Less Arbitration Case, Burriss Signs

The San Francisco Giants (Press Release) have knocked off an arbitration case by signing infielder Manny (Emmanuel) Burriss to a one-year major league contract. Burriss is expected to come off the bench in 2012. He can play any infield position and even left field. He has some speed that the Giants will love to see in a steal situation as well. ~King of Cali (Steven) —...

Giants sign Brian Burres and Emmanuel Burriss

The Giants reached a couple of agreements today with players of similar sounding names. Emmanuel Burriss, will reportedly have a larger role in the 2012 season as the Giants try to groom him as a potential super utility guy. Hank Schulman of the SF Chronicle speculates that the deal will be close to the league minimum. By signing now the Giants and Burriss avoided an arbitration...

Unconfirmed: Giants sign reliever Brian Burres

On a day when they signed a Burriss, the San Francisco Giants have also apparently signed a Burres. Confused? Me too. So, I went to the supposed source, Kristy Robinson, a Pittsburgh Pirates beat reporter for Ohio Valley Athletics. She’s a self-proclaimed “rookie” in the business, and I wanted to make sure she didn’t confuse Emmanuel Burriss (the Giants infielder who did...

Giants News and Notes: Bill Hall Designated for Assignment, Emmanuel Burriss Optioned

I figured I'd catch up on the news and notes from today, as Carlos Beltran gets set to make his San Francisco Giants debut... In order to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Beltran, Bill Hall was activated from the 15-day DL and designated for assignment. In order to clear a spot on the 25-man roster, the Giants optioned Emmanuel Burriss back to Triple-A Fresno. Miguel...

Game Recap: Brewers 6, Giants 0

Some awful things about this awful game: The starting lineup. It consisted of three guys who I didn't expect to see playing regularly in 2011, let alone in May: Emmanuel Burriss, Chris Stewart, Brandon Crawford. The sad thing is, I beginning to actually believe that Crawford and Burriss might be better options than Miguel Tejada, who has yet to show serious signs of life...

Giants To Call Up Emmanuel Burriss

Andrew Baggerly of the Merc is hearing that the Giants will promote speedy infielder Emmanuel Burriss today and finally stop carrying a 13 man pitching staff. No word on who will be the causality of the Burriss roster move but I’d suspect Todd Wellemeyer. He looked incredibly unimpressive yesterday and I’m not sure if he can properly fill the void of a long relief man...

Giants notebook: Emmanuel Burriss hits two doubles, then re-injures surgically repaired foot

He limped into second base on his double in the sixth inning and complained of more pain in the foot. He was removed for a pinch runner, and the Giants scheduled a visit with a foot specialist.

Giants Option Burriss To Triple A

San Francisco just shook things up. Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Gate reports the team optioned Emmanuel Burriss to Triple A Fresno and purchased the contract of Matt Downs, a 25-year old infielder. Burriss had been without a hit since June 4. Schulman writes,"We feel now's the time Manny needs to go down and work on some things," [manager Bruce] Bochy said....
