SF Giants Rumors: One Less Arbitration Case, Burriss Signs
The San Francisco Giants (Press Release) have knocked off an arbitration case by signing infielder Manny (Emmanuel) Burriss to a one-year major league contract.
Burriss is expected to come off the bench in 2012. He can play any infield position and even left field. He has some speed that the Giants will love to see in a steal situation as well.

The Giants reached a couple of agreements today with players of similar sounding names.

Giants re-sign Emmanuel Burriss
The San Francisco Giants have signed infielder Emmanuel Burriss to a one-year contract, 22gigantes.com has learned. Burriss was eligible for arbitration.
The 26-year old switch hitter had a down year in 2011 and spent most of the year at Triple-A Fresno where he batted .297/.386/.389 with 2 HR, 10 RBI and 24 stolen bases in 45 games.

I figured I'd catch up on the news and notes from today, as Carlos Beltran gets set to make his San Francisco Giants debut...

The starting lineup. It consisted of three guys who I didn't expect to see playing regularly in 2011, let alone in May: Emmanuel Burriss, Chris Stewart, Brandon Crawford. The sad thing is, I beginning to actually believe that Crawford and Burriss might be better options than Miguel Tejada, who has yet to show serious signs of life...

Burriss called up to replace DeRosa
San Francisco Giants infielder Mark DeRosa was placed on the disabled list Thursday and Emmanuel Burriss was recalled from Triple-A Fresno to assume a backup/utility role with the team. Burriss was destroying Triple-A pitching with a .361 batting average and 16 steals.

Andrew Baggerly of the Merc is hearing that the Giants will promote speedy infielder Emmanuel Burriss today and finally stop carrying a 13 man pitching staff. No word on who will be the causality of the Burriss roster move but I’d suspect Todd Wellemeyer. He looked incredibly unimpressive yesterday and I’m not sure if he can properly fill the void of a long relief man...

Giants Option Burriss To Triple A
San Francisco just shook things up. Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Gate reports the team optioned Emmanuel Burriss to Triple A Fresno and purchased the contract of Matt Downs, a 25-year old infielder. Burriss had been without a hit since June 4. Schulman writes,"We feel now's the time Manny needs to go down and work on some things," [manager Bruce] Bochy said....
