INF German, Rangers agree on 1-year deal (AP)

Infielder Esteban German has agreed to a one-year contract with the Texas Rangers. German will make $600,000 in the major leagues and $200,000 in minors under Saturday's deal. After spending most of the season at Triple-A Oklahoma City, where he hit .319 with four homers and 59 RBIs in 105 games, German batted .304 (14 for 46) with four doubles and four RBIs in 19 games for Texas.

According to a report from the Chicago Tribune, the Cubs released Esteban German on Friday. Esteban German signed a minor league deal with the Cubs on March 13 that included a non-roster invitation to Spring Training. After 16 days in big league camp, the Cubs re-assigned German to minor league camp on March 29.
