An Interview With Frank Catalanotto

Thirteen year Major League Baseball veteran and former New York Met Frank Catalanotto was kind enough to answer a few questions from the Mets Fever team. Mets Fever (Seth Shapiro): As a fellow Long Islander, I have noticed that many children on LI nowadays prefer to play lacrosse over baseball. As someone who is involved in the little league community, why do you think this is...

Whether he’s attending one of his four daughters’ sporting events or speaking to local little leagues, the Smithtown, Long Island native has been adjusting to life after his playing career. Though he was a Yankee fan growing up, Catalanotto thoroughly enjoyed his time last season with the Mets. He just wishes it...

MetsBlog Q&A: with Frank Catalanotto about ‘fundies.’

Posted in MetsBlog Matthew Cerrone: There has been a lot of talk lately about the Mets and fundamentals, playing the game right, doing the little things, etc., some of it is fair, some of it is very rhetorical. That said, in your experience, how long does it typically take a team to click, to connect, before they start getting a good feel for playing with one another, which likely...

Look for Daniel Murphy to supplant Smithtown’s Frank Catalanotto

Don’t expect Murphy to be the first baseman when he returns from his DL stint. Ike Davis will be the everyday first baseman unless he starts hitting like the Braves rookie Heywood who was on the bench yesterday and has 1 hit in his last 23 at bats for the reeling Atlanta Braves who have now lost 8 in a row. Daniel is back to running this week and just started taking reps this week...

Reds Discussing Jenkins, Catalanotto

John Fay of the Cincinatti Enquirer is reporting that the Reds are having internal discussions about possibly adding Geoff Jenkins or Frank Catalanotto. Either player would provide the veteran presence they need in the clubhouse and on the field. The roster won't be set till tomorrow, but the Reds could still make a move if the price is right. This story was approved by MLB Rumors.

I'll take Catalanotto over Anderson....

Despite hitting .317 this spring and being able to play almost every position, the Rangers are reported to have released Frank Catalanotto to make room for outfielder Andruw Jones. The Mets have been rumored to be interested in the super sub for quite sometime. While he's another left handed hitter he's a much better option then Marlon Anderson. The 34 y/o has spent most...
