Twins dodge arbitration on Liriano, Perkins deals
The Minnesota Twins have agreed to one-year contracts with left-handers Francisco Liriano and Glen Perkins, avoiding arbitration with both players.
Liriano will make $5.5 million this season to lead the rotation, up from $4.3 million in 2011. Perkins will get $1.55 million this year to be the primary setup man, a raise from the $700,000 he made last season.

Perkins is worthy of Twins top pitching honor
Twins relief pitcher Glen Perkins let the cat out of the bag through his Twitter account, telling the world before the organization could announce it that he was the recipient of the team’s Pitcher of the Year Award in addition to winning the Most Improved Award.
Perkins put together a phenomenal if unexpected season in the bullpen. After injuries eroded his velocity which...

Twins dropping like flies; Defense bad, Perkins worse
What a disaster last night. I didn’t think it would be that bad.
The White Sox evened up the race for first place in the AL central division by pounding the Twins 6-1 – no thanks to Glen Perkins or the Twins’ terrible defensive play last night. Plus, Twins players are dropping like flies (Slowey, Hardy, Mijares, Rauch).
All in all, not a good combination.
By the way, Rauch...

Perkins’s Grievance
According to MLBTR and the Star-Tribune’s Joe Christensen, Twins lefty Glen Perkins may file a grievance over service time manipulation this season. Perkins was activated from the DL on September 2nd, but he was optioned to AAA rather than staying up with the Twins. If he is shut down for the season, as is expected, [...]

Perkins Takes Hill Tonight
When Glen Perkins takes the hill tonight, he’ll be trying to avoid having an outing like he did against Oakland, when he got basically murdered. Oddly enough, his pitches weren’t moving all that differently in that outing than they were normally:
There was more separation in movement between his fastball and his changeup than usual, but [...]
