Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News says Angel Villalona‘s work visa has been approved by the U.S. Immigration Service. Villalona is expected to report to Scottsdale Stadium on February 23, when position players report to camp.
Villalona has been away from the game for a while since the 2009 murder charge. It’s not clear as to what kind of player he will be...

Giants Re-sign Guillermo Mota
The Giants are bringing back Guillermo Mota. Which is cool, because it gives me a chance to step away for a second from the constant rosterbation.
Guillermo Mota is 38 years old. During his career, he’s played for seven different teams. In 2009, he was a Dodger. From 2002 to 2004, he spent time in a Dodgers uniform. There was a time when Mota was a truly dominant reliever; it didn’t...

Giants reliever trips, ends up not pitching
San Francisco Giants fans may want to reconsider using "torture" as their rallying cry. From the looks of the team's disabled list, you could start to wonder if the players are taking it a little too literally. Relief pitcher Guillermo Mota is the latest casualty of the Giants' bad luck. During Thursday night's game, Mota was headed to the bullpen when he tripped...

Guillermo Mota Doesn't Mess Around
In a bullpen stocked with above average arms it is pretty easy to overlook Guillermo Mota. He is the last man in the bullpen and is relegated to mop up duty and extra innings games. So when a pitcher like this does something pretty extraordinary like Mota did yesterday it is worth mention.
Mota came in during the 7th inning yesterday after Ryan Vogelsong allowed 3 straight hits...

Mota Returns To Giants
Chalk up another returning member of the World Series Champions.
ESPN Deportes is reporting that reliever Guillermo Mota has opted to remain with the Giants after signing a minor league deal with the black and orange this past weekend. Mota, while nothing special, certainly had his choice of suitors, especially in the National League West so it’s a bit shocking he accepted...

Giants Interested in Guillermo Mota
The Giants have reportedly offered Guillermo Mota a minor-league contract. Mota was largely average for the Giants in 2010, posting a 4.33 ERA with a 3.7 BB/9 and a 6.3 K/9...His ERA+ of 94 would indicate that he was just a tick below average, which was well worth the $750K he received last year. He's getting up there in terms of age -- 37 -- but he's still serviceable as a reliever...

Guillermo Mota's New Self: Real Or Fake?
As many have already realized, Guillermo Mota has turned his season around after an atrocious start. In his first 15 appearances, Mota's ERA (9.00) and WHIP (2.20) were both terrible. However, in his next 15 appearances, Mota has posted an ERA of 0.50 and a WHIP of 0.72.So with his season being the tale of two different pitchers, which one is the real Guillermo Mota? Well...
