Chacin makes his first start in Buffalo..
Along with Fernando Perez the Mets also signed another former promising prospect who has lost his way in AAA. Gustavo Chacin was the 2005 Topps rookie of the year for LHP, that year as a starter in the Jays rotation he went 13-9 in 34 starts with a 3.72 ERA. The next year he made 17 major league starts going 9-4 but with a 5.05 ERA. He only made five starts in 2007 before not...

Don’t Worry, Chacin is Back
Gustavo Chacin has signed a minor-league contract with the Houston Astros. Chacin made a career high 44 appearances last season and posted an ERA of 4.70 and held lefties to a .323 average. As far as I can tell, the man with the coolest name in baseball was offered a contract for any number of 5 reasons:
He posted a 1.96 ERA over his last 12 appearances
He’s Left-handed and the...

The Best Name In Baseball
Ending up in the Houston bullpen has been an odd journey for Gustavo Chacin. Chacin (pronounced SHA-Seen) was born in Venezuela in 1980 and signed as a non-draftee free agent with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2000. As a starter, the lefty progressed through the Jays minor league system and seemed on his way to a productive major league career as a middle of the rotation starter. Chacin...

Bunts and Balks (7/28)
The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (AAA) beat the Columbus Clippers on Tuesday, 4-2. Gustavo Chacin (the Machine?) had a strong start, improving to 6-3, with a 3.45 ERA. Chacin (pictured, in 2006 WBC!) went six innings, allowing one run, on four hits (three walks/two strikeouts). Jason Donald returned to the lineup, at SS, and was 2 for 4, with a double. (Hopefully, that helped Donald'...

The Venezuelan southpaw spent spring training with the Washington Nationals and was released March 31. In four seasons with Toronto between 2004-07, he went 25-15 with a 4.18 ERA, finishing fifth in Rookie...

Note: Please follow the link and read our entire posting on this one before commenting
Gustavo Chacin and Barry Bonds are simply two easy targets to choose. Feel free to sub the names ,but please don't reply with "Nothing has been proven on steroids, DUI, etc". This is not the point of the article. What we are trying to do is gather opinions on which TYPE of player...
