Not everybody in Wisconsin is a turkey
The other day I took some time to really piss off the good people of Wisconsin when I slammed the Milwaukee Brewers’ public relations department for being…well, unoriginal. (You can read about that here.)
I really didn’t mean any offense. But the truth is, Bruce Lee > The Racing Sausages.
However, not everyone in Wisconsin is void of inspiration. Or dauntlessness...

Phlashback Phriday- Jack Taschner
This former lefty reliever began his career with the Giants and ended it with the Dodgers; in between he was a Phucco (Phillies- 2009, Buccos- 2010). In his career he compiled a 10-5 record in 222 games with a 5.14 ERA/1.65 WHIP. Amaro acquired him for catcher Ronny Paulino. His lone season in Philly was a bust, with an ERA near 5, a WHIP of almost 2, and more walks than strikeouts...

Notes: Brock Holt, Jack Taschner, Matt McSwain, Catchers
Some afternoon notes...
-First, a an update on the notes from over the weekend. I mentioned that the Pirates were on the hook for the rest of Jack Taschner's salary. Since Taschner has less than five years of service time, he isn't guaranteed the rest of his salary, which saves the Pirates a little less than $500 K.
-Brock Holt does not have a torn MCL and will not require...

Jack Taschner not reporting to AAA
When the Pirates DFA'd Jack Taschner last week, I expected that he would clear through waivers and would pick up some innings in AAA-Indianapolis. I fully expected him to be in the Majors, though, at some other point during this season.Turns out that will not be the case as Taschner told his hometown paper that he has declined the Pirates' offer to report to AAA and will...

Phillies Reinforce With...Taschner?! (But more to follow...)
It was September 1st. The day when the Phillies could expand their active roster, by as many as fifteen players, and reinforce the tiring bullpen and the ineffective bench. The Phillies had a wide variety of replacement-level options for recall, and they summoned...Jack Taschner. And...that's it. Yikes.
On the plus side, the Phils have indicated that more recalls are coming. Some...

Bunts and Balks (Taschner Independence Weekend Edition)
Jack Taschner was finally removed from the Phillies' roster, as he was DFA'd on Friday. Taschner was jettisoned to open a roster spot for starter Rodrigo Lopez. Taschner departs with a 5.20 ERA, 5.61 WHIP, and a .85 K/BB. It was likely Taschner's 835K guaranteed contract that kept him at the MLB level, as Manager Charlie Manuel had almost no confidence in the southpaw...

Breaking: Taschner DFA'd to make room for Lopez
After a respectable start, left-hander Jack Taschner has been dropped from the Phillies' bullpen following a dismal June. The 31-year-old departs with a 5.20 ERA and 17/20 K/BB ratio. The move signals a small vote of confidence for rookie Sergio Escalona, who stays on as the second lefty in the 'pen. Beerleaguer: Once the Phillies returned home, it was only a matter of time...
