J.C. Romero: out for the playoffs

Scratch another pitcher of the list of candidates to make the Phillies posteason roster. J.C. Romero, who has had a bum forearm and elbow for what seems like the entire season, will be unavailable to pitch for the Phillies in October, according to Scott Lauber of Delaware Online.Romero, who last pitched for the Phillies on September 28th, will now put his tumultuous 2009 season...

Is J.A. Happ the next Kyle Kendrick?

I hope the Toronto Blue Jays front office doesn't read this....J.A. Happ is having a phenomenal rookie year. His record is currently 7-1 and has a 2.97 ERA and has been a pleasant surprise as he holds up the back of the Phillies rotation. There has been much debate amongst Phillies fans, however, as to whether Happ should be part of a trade that would bring Roy Halladay to...

Is It Over For Jamie Moyer?

The end might finally be coming for Jamie Moyer. The 46 year old pitcher for the Phillies enjoyed a remarkable season last year when he won 16 games and helped the Phils win the World Series. After that effort, many talked about how Moyer had several good years left and how he could possibly pitch into his 50's.Flash forward to this season and things have gone downhill fast. Moyer...

HAPPy Days Are Here Again!

Rookie J.A. Happ was solid yet again for the Phillies in crunch time. Another Phillies rookie scored a crucial run when Greg Golston scored from third on an infield hit and Pat Burrell hit a three run homerun to push past the Braves 6-2. Meanwhile in Flushing, New York...

Phils win, Mets lose, Magic Number now at 4

The Phillies just keep on winning, especially against the Braves. The Phillies won for the 10th time in 11 games, beating the Braves 6-2 to raise their record to 14-2 against Atlanta for the season. Yahoo! Sports: Happ to take Kendrick's start for Phillies Left-hander J.A. Happ, who has made only two starts this season, will replace Kyle Kendrick in the rotation for Wednesday night's game against the Atlanta Braves. Kendrick To Start Against Marlins

Phillies' starter Kyle Kendrick will get the ball in Tuesday's showdown with the Florida Marlins at Citizen's Bank Park, according to Phils' manager Charlie Manuel. "He's been in the rotation all year," said Manuel. "They have a lot of righthanded hitters." Before the announcement, there had been speculation that the Phillies would...

Heart Attacks, Thanks Brad Lidge

Holy schnikes, almost didn't pull that one out. Brad Lidge gave Phils fans a few heart attacks last night, hell make that a baker's dozen. In the end everything is fine and dandy though, as Lidge converted his 28th save of the season; extending the Phils lead in the NL East to 2.5 games over the Marlins and 3 games over the Mets. For the full article recapping the ESPN...

Swagger?

Was what I witnessed tonight the "swagger" Brett Myers spoke of when he said he found it in Lehigh-Valley? If so it needs to be bottled. If you missed the game you missed a dominant performance by Myers (something no one has seen this season). Myers went seven-plus innings, allowing four hits and one run. The lone run allowed was a direct result of a Chase Utley error...

Let's Meet JA Happ

Happ doesn't have overpowering stuff, nor is any of it tricky. He's much like Kyle Kendrick in that he pitches best when he's got his head on straight. Meaning he doesn't get ahead of himself, doesn't get to up or too down. He knows what he has to work with and knows his limitations. Kendrick has used that mentality to earn himself a spot in the Phils rotation.
