LaRue’s career ended when Cincinnati Reds pitcher Johnny Cueto kicked him in the face during the Cards-Reds brawl August 10. Jason LaRue suffered what Cardinals manager Tony La Russa called a slight concussion during a benches-clearing incident in Tuesday night's 8-4 win over the Reds at Great American Ball Park. Pitcher Chris Carpenter also got scraped up in the imbroglio, as both men were kicked by Reds pitcher Johnny Cueto.

The Cardinals activated catcher Jason LaRue from the disabled list on Tuesday, returned catcher Bryan Anderson to Triple-A Memphis and re-signed former St. Louis infielder Aaron Miles to a Minor League contract.

Cards bring back C LaRue on 1-year, $950K deal
Catcher Jason LaRue has agreed to a $950,000, one-year contract to remain with the St. Louis Cardinals.
Yadier Molina's backup for two seasons, LaRue hit .240 with two homers and six RBIs in 104 at-bats last season. He started 26 games and appeared in 51 overall.
