Jason Pridie is Reminder to Stop WAG Star Prejudice

All this Penn State stuff has me desperate to tackle something a bit lighter, yes? Good.Late this week, my beloved Mets waived utility outfielder Jason Pridie. Pridie, who batted .231, stole 7 bases and did nothing particularly remarkable during his time-to-date in Queens. He may well be back, if he is not claimed.Regardless, he will now forever be emblazoned in my memory. OK, I’m...

Goodbye Jason Pridie? – A good guy, but a decent fifth outfielder

Pridie hit .231 (OBP of .309) with four homeruns, 20 RBI, 7 stolen bases, and 48 runs in 101 games and 208 at-bats. I feel like ever year the Mets have a fifth outfielder that either starts with the team in April or comes up to the team in May. That outfielder is always your slightly below average fifth outfielder, who plays good defense, but can’t hit. He also always stays with...

About Last Night: Pridie on becoming an effective reserve

Last night, Jason Pridie went 2 for 5 with two RBIs, both of which came on his sixth inning double that gave the Mets the lead for good. After the game, Pridie discussed his performance with reporters and basically said: He was happy to chip in and contribute to the team’s success. It was an adjustment at first when he was moved back into a reserve role, but he feels he has...

Hairston & Pridie Help Make School Amazing

This Morning, I was able to cover an important charity event hosted by the New York Mets and sponsored by EmblemHealth. The program is called School is Amazing and at Middle School 111 on Lafayette Avenue in the Bronx, Mets outfielders Scott Hairston and Jason Pridie came by to help provide instruction for the students in a softball class. The Mets invited the Daily Stache down to...

Z-Cap 5-6-11: Jason Pridie 3-run Blast Leads Mets Over Dodgers

After learning news that Angel Pagan suffered a set back during his rehab from a strained left oblique, his replacement, Jason Pridie, delivered a 3-run go-ahead home run to lift the Mets over the L.A. Dodgers, 6-3, to take the the opener in this 3-game weekend series.  The Mets overcame three 1-run deficits to win [...]

You might not realize how good a defender Jason Pridie is...

Credit Flickr account 66Baseball The other day Rob did a post on Jason Pridie's up hill battle to make the team, it appears the bench has two spots that aren't locks.  Paulino, Hairston and Hu seem to already be penciled in on the roster, leaving a spot for a defensive outfielder and a corner infielder.  Most speculation is that Willie Harris is the...

Both Pridie and Stoner Clear Waivers

Recently DFA'd Mets minor leaguers Jason Pridie and Toby Stoner have cleared waivers as of this afternoon. Both men have been assigned to AAA Buffalo and will be in major league camp next month when spring training commences.  Pridie had the option of free agency upon clearing waivers, but instead chose to remain with the club and accepted a minor league assignment. And thus puts...

A few great interviews; bloggers, Roberts, Pridie, Ricciardi

While there might not be much news out there right now there have been several great interviews conducted by my fellow bloggers. It's not the most comfortable position for me (being the one typed about instead of being the typer) , but John Strubel did an excellent job on an inside look at why some of us bloggers do what we do.  John interviewed Joe Janish, Chris McShane, Kerel Cooper...

GMJ breaths a sigh of relief - Pridie on the DL...

Gary Mathews Jr. shouldn't be on this team, he has provided nothing at the plate and while it's true he can play all three outfield positions, his range is nothing special. I try not to read into players body language because really we have no idea what their thinking, but when I see GMJ I can't help but feel he's a guy who could care less, that's just going through the motions ...
