Lucky Lefties, and Less is More: An Analysis of the Giants Offseason
Ned Flanders is a crafty lefty.
It should surprise no one familiar with this site when I say that we haven’t been blogging much; not counting writing done for other sites, I haven’t written an original article for over seven months. To break my blogging fast, I couldn’t decide if I wanted to recap the offseason, or analyze the contracts to Jeremy Affeldt and Javier...

Final Thoughts on the Giants’ Offseason
The Giants’ offseason has been discussed and scrutinized ad nauseum, and the consensus seems to be somewhere between frustration and disgust. A team with hopes of contending, a steady stream of revenue, and a dire need to improve its offense passed on Jose Reyes, Jimmy Rollins, and Carlos Beltran. In fact, their only offensive additions consisted of Angel Pagan and Melky Cabrera...

Giants looking to trade Jeremy Affeldt or Ramon Ramirez
I don’t even know what to say. The Giants are spending little money this offseason, but decided to commit ~$10MM to two lefty relievers. When they re-signed Javier Lopez and exercised Jeremy Affeldt‘s option, I thought it was a bit excessive and unnecessary. Apparently the Giants took a month to realize that, and are now trying to clear up some of the money they have...

Hot Stove: Giants Budget Math Looks Bleak
With the signing of Jeremy Affeldt and Javier Lopez the MLB Hot Stove season has officially kicked off for the Giants. With that in mind I think it is a good time to take a look at how much of the Giants budget will be left to spend on Free Agents this off season.
To get an idea I pulled up the Giants from Cot's Contracts and took a look at what MLB Trade Rumors projects for...

Giants' Affeldt healing from hand injury
Giants reliever Jeremy Affeldt is healing well from a season-ending hand injury sustained when he cut himself trying to separate frozen hamburgers.
Affeldt says he expects to be done wearing a protective brace on his non-throwing right hand soon, perhaps in the coming days. He will fly from his home in Spokane, Wash., to the Bay Area on Thursday to be examined by a hand specialist...

SF Giants Rumors: Will Jeremy Affeldt be a Giant in 2012?
Relief pitcher Jeremy Affeldt hurt himself trying to separate frozen patties with a knife. Affeldt had to have surgery, and is done for the year. The only good thing about this is it was his right hand that was injured. Affeldt is a southpaw.
Affeldt is at the end of his two year contact with the Giants. The team does however have a 2012 club option. If the San Francisco Giants...

WEEKEND RAGER
Brian Wilson melts down, beats up cooler
Closer Brian Wilson blew his second straight save chance for the Giants and he did not take it well. After giving up four hits and a walk against the seven batters he faced in Detroit Friday night, manager Bruce Bochy pulled him. Wilson reacted by busting up a Gatorade cooler like he were Carlos Zambrano or Carlos Perez. Check out the Brian Wilson meltdown video:
If there...

2009 Jeremy Affeldt is Just a Memory Now
Jeremy Affeldt's impressive 2009 seems like a lifetime ago and with each progressive outing it feels like getting back to that level of pitching is less and less likely.
Even with Affeldt's struggles he is still in the good graces of Bruce Bochy. He keeps getting the call to pitch in important situations and has been one of the go to options in the 6th and 7th innings. So...
