What I’m Reading: 1981, Rangers and Monkeys
Checking out some of the throwback “tribute” cards on White Sox Cards. I gotta say, the 1981 Topps Jerry Owens is mighty cool. Nice work Steve.
Learned from MLB Trade Rumors that Khalil Greene has signed with the Texas Rangers. Greene, who came up as a shortstop with the Padres will be a [...]

Owens to Mariners, Ward to White Sox
Just a couple minor moves involving Jerry Owens and Daryle Ward. The Mariners have signed outfielder Jerry Owens to a minor league deal while the White Sox have signed Ward to a minor league deal and assigned him to Triple-A Charlotte. Ward was hitting .222 with 2 RBI in eight games for the Newark Bears before the White Sox picked him up.
It is nice to see Ward land with a big league...

The White Sox will call up outfielder Scott Podsednik today, FOXSports.com is reporting. The Chicago Tribune reported Thursday night that outfielder Jerry Owens was seen shaking hands with teammates before leaving with his athletic bag. Owens is out of options, so he would have to go on waivers before being sent to the minors. Podsednik, 33, is hitting .262 with 0 HR and 1 SB in...

Podsednik to return? Yes, Jerry Owens is that bad
Well maybe when the Chicago White Sox designated him for assignment and no one took him should have been the first clue that Jerry Owens is just not cut out for the major leagues but the team brought him back up to the big league level after an injury to Dwayne Wise and though 12 [...]

Dewayne Wise Seperates Shoulder
The battle for the White Sox starting centefield job this spring wasn't exactly epic, but when the dust had finally settled, it was minor-league journeyman Dewayne Wise who had emerged victorious against Brian Anderson and Jerry Owens. And when I say victorious, I mean the least harmful...Continue reading at FanHouse

Melky On The Block?
I mentioned in my last post that if I were Brian Cashman I'd consider dealing Melky Cabrera. According to Ken Rosenthal at Fox Sports, the Yankees are looking into it, telling teams they're open to the idea. They better be open to the idea. It doesn't make any sense not to be open to it. Gardner is the obvious choice for the starting CF job. Nick Swisher is the 4th...
