Flores and Nationals agree at $815,000

Catcher Jesus Flores and the Washington Nationals have agreed to an $815,000, one-year contract, a raise of $65,000. The 27-year-old hit .209 in 86 at-bats last year after missing the 2010 season following surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder. He was hit by a foul ball on May 9, 2009, returned for three at-bats that September and then had the operation. Washington...

Nationals Agree to Terms with Jesus Flores

In 2009, Jesus Flores was the catcher of the future for the Washington Nationals, and with good reason.  One unfortunate foul tip into his shoulder changed that quickly, as he missed the better part of the next 2 seasons recovering from the injury.  Today, Flores and the Nationals agreed to terms for a one-year deal, thus avoiding salary arbitration.  The financials of the deal...

Jesus Flores: "Contento por los batazos en la primera semana."

Apparently Jesus Flores is pleased by all the hits so far in his 2011 Venezuelan Winter League campaign. Indeed, to say Flores is raking through nine games for Navegantes del Magallanes would be an understatement: 462/.488/.795, 18 hits, 4 2B, 3 HR, 9 RBI. Wait, did Flores just say "I hope Wilson Ramos breaks both his legs this Winter."? Befriend the...

Eight Thursdays to go: Shopping Jesus Flores could be risky

(by Mike Henderson) Impoverished at catcher as recently as two seasons ago, the Washington Nationals now could be said to have an overage of backstops. Whether that puts Jesus Flores on the bubble depends on how well the club thinks the position is covered throughout the rest of the system.

Where were you when Jesus (not Strasburg, but Flores) needed a hug?

If you're not pulling for Jesus Flores to make a full recovery from shoulder surgery, you either have no soul or your name is Pudge Rodriguez.
