Braves designate Joe Mather for assignment
The Atlante braves have designated outfielder Joe Mather for assignment according to David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. This move will create room for Nate McLouth who was activated today from the DL.
Mather was hitting .213/.272/.272 with 1 HR and 9 RBI's in 75 AB's for the Braves in 2011.

Mather eager to live up to Braves' expectations
Since claiming Joe Mather off waivers in November, the Braves have indicated they expect to begin the upcoming season with him serving as one of their utility players. But when he made an early arrival to camp Tuesday, the 28-year-old veteran said he will not take anything for granted.

Braves: Conrad, Proctor, Mather out of options
Newly anointed Baseball Prospectus author R.J. Anderson put an interesting piece out yesterday on players who are out of options. The Braves have three players on their 40 man roster who are currently out of options: Brooks Conrad, Scott Proctor, and Joe Mather.
Basically, the upshot is that if they don't make the 25 man major league roster for opening day, they will be placed on waivers.
