The Tampa Bay Rays agreed to a one-year contract with right-handed reliever Joel Peralta. The deal allowed the sides to avoid arbitration. The 35-year-old Peralta was a workhorse for the Rays last season, making 71 appearances and compiling a 3-4 record and 2.91 ERA. It represented a career high in appearances for Peralta, who also converted six of eight save opportunities.
