The Boston Red Sox have signed Joey Gathright, Peter Abraham of The Boston Globe reports. Gathright was playing with the independent league Yuma Scorpions.

Baltimore Orioles release OF Joey Gathright
According to Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com, the Baltimore Orioles have released outfielder Joey Gathright this morning.
Gathright, 28, has not played with the big league club this season. He has a career .263/.327/.303 in six seasons. He last played with the Cubs and Red Sox in 2009.
