With less than a week until pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report for spring training, several Red Sox players have already touched down in Fort Myers. Included in that group is team ace Jon Lester, who arrived early to get a head start on his workouts. On Monday, Lester tweeted a "pretty awesome" picture of the Sox' brand new JetBlue Park. Though he was named as one of the fried chicken-and-beer trio, Lester was among the first players to address the situation back in October. And now he is in camp, working hard, looking lean, and excited about the coming season.

Lester’s numbers from 2011 were down, but even before then, his best season was in 2010 when he was 19-9 with 225 strikeouts, a 3.25 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and .220 OBA. Those numbers weren’t even top-five worthy for 2011, so thinking that he could finish as a top five starting pitcher in 2012 just might be a pipe dream.
