Tony Watson called up; Jose Ascanio DFA'd
This move comes as no surprise as Clint Hurdle has made it clear he would like an additional lefty in his bullpen. Tony Watson, who was picked in the 9th round of the 2007 draft will get his first call to the bigs. Jose Ascanio, who has looked bad since his activation off the disabled list has been designated for assignment.

Pirates designate RHP Jose Ascanio for assignment
In a Tweet by Dejan Kovacevic of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, he reports that the Pittsburgh Pirates have designated right-handed pitcher Jose Ascanio for assignment to make room for left-handed pitcher Tony Watson on the 25-man roster.
The 26-year-old Ascanio was 0-0 with a 5.06 ERA in 13 relief appearances for the Bucs this season.

Ascanio suffers setback
Jose Ascanio has been temporarily shut down after suffering a right hand injury in a home accident. Ascanio was rehabbing in the Gulf Coast League after undergoing shoulder surgery in late 2009.
