It's more of a formality at this point, but Adam Rubin is reporting that the Mets have placed Kelvim Escobar and Carlos Beltran on the DL. Since the DL stint can start 1o days prior to the start of the season, if they don't believe one of these guys will not return prior to the last week of May then they can place them on the 60 day and use the roster spot. According to Brian Costa of the Star Ledger, Kelvim Escobar felt good after playing catch yesterday, but expects to spend at least the month of April rehabilitating in Port St. Lucie.

Due to whats being described as shoulder weakness Kelvim Escobar is two weeks behind the rest of the pitchers. Escobar, himself still holds out hope that if his shoulder comes around he can catch up, he believes as a reliever it will take him less time to get ready.
