Former 1st Rounder Has a Big Day
The affiliates had a solid performance on Sunday with four wins in six tries. Former first rounder Kevin Ahrens had a big day, including a three-run homer. Today is Draft Deadline Day. By the end of today, the organization (hopefully) will have an influx of new, high-ceiling talent to help out an already-impressive system.

Ahrens Close to Clicking
Since being drafted 18th overall in the 2007 amateur entry Draft, third baseman Kevin Ahrens has remained in the lower levels of the Blue Jays’ organization, advancing as far as the High-A Dunedin team, which he is currently playing for.

2010 Positional Review: Third Base
There's an interesting mix at this position, one which has been weak for some time now in recent Jays history. The Jays have not developed a reasonably good 3B from their own system in almost 20 years (since the advent of Ed Sprague). none of these guys might be that guy either, but there's at least some interesting and comment worthy things going on.1. Brad Emaus (25) -...

2010 Blue Jays Top Prospects: Prospects to Watch
The Top 30 prospects series demonstrated the strength of the Blue Jays minor league system compared to the past couple of seasons. Several prospects were left off the Top 30 list who would have been comfortable inclusions a year or two ago. Given the depth of the system, the Minor League Crew decided to profile some additional prospects worth keeping an eye during the offseason and...

Lansing Lugnuts Scouting Report - August 2010
I was in Lansing ten days ago for two games. Here is my scouting report on those games.
Kevin Ahrens hit the ball hardest of any hitter over the weekend. Ahrens was hitting a lot of line drives, some were caught, some were hits, but in general he hit the ball hard. Defensively he was fine, he has a good third-baseman's arm. Sal Fasano thinks Ahrens is getting his head into...

Baseball Blogs Weigh In: Dawson, Ahrens, Rays, Lee
On this date in 1995, Dodgers right-hander Hideo Nomo became the first Japanese-born player in Major League history to be selected for the All Star Game. Nomo, then a 26-year-old rookie, took the big leagues by storm with his tornado windup and by posting a 1.99 ERA and 11.9 K/9 in 13 first half starts. The All Star Game was just the tip of the iceberg for Nomo, who went on to win...

Emaus Stays Hot, Ahrens Warms Up
Kyle Drabek took the loss as New Hampshire lost again to Akron. Drabek pitched OK but walks, and an error behind him, cost him. Henderson Alvarez had a rough first inning and was pulled from his start and Dunedin went on to lose. Las Vegas won, Luis Perez made his first AAA start and was shaky but got the win. Brad Emaus and Jarrett Hoffpauir were the hitting stars. Lansing...
