San Diego Padres first baseman Kyle Blanks left Tuesday's game against the Colorado Rockies with a slightly strained right quadriceps.

In a surprising move, the Padres via twitter announced that Kyle Blanks was being promoted and Anthony Rizzo demoted. Since his call up Rizzo hit .143/.282./265 at the major league level after he put up monster numbers in Tucson (.365/.444/.715).

Hallelujah, Blanks is Facing a Righty!
Just thought I’d share my jubilation that, for one game at least, the Padres made the sensible decision and are starting Kyle Blanks in left field against righthander Chad Billingsley.
I’m really hoping Blanks has a huge game and puts this idiotic platoon idea to bed once and for all. He struggled, not surprisingly, against lefty Clayton Kershaw yesterday.
