What Will We See Out Of Lucas Duda in 2012
After struggling in 29 games in 2010, Lucas Duda came roaring back in 2011, posting a .292 batting average in 100 games played over 301 at-bats. Duda stroked 21 doubles, 10 home runs and 50 RBI, and showed he could be a nice cog in the Mets lineup. So after a nice showing last year from Duda, what can we expect from Lucas this upcoming season?
With Ike Davis healthy and back at...

Two Mets I’m Really Curious About In 2012
No doubt there are a myriad of questions and curiosities about the 2012 Mets, but two I am wondering about most are Lucas Duda and Mike Pelfrey.
I’m skipping the obvious choices, David Wright, Johan Santana and Jason Bay. With Wright, either they’ll trade him or they won’t. With Santana, he’s either healthy or he’s not. And Bay? Based on his first two years with the Mets...

Congratulations To Rachel, The Winner Of The Shea Stadium Baseball Cap!
WE HAVE A WINNER!
On Tuesday we asked you to name the only team not to have a winning record against the Mets in 1962. The correct answer was the Chicago Cubs who went 9-9 against the Amazins’ that season.
We received 36 correct responses, and then we randomly selected a winner and contacted them…
CONGRATULATIONS TO RACHEL!

Why Not Move Jason Bay to RF?
Lucas Duda’s lack of defensive ability anywhere on the field has been a big cause for concern between many Mets fans, bloggers, and people in baseball. Many feel Duda is a bat without a position, so he is similar to Daniel Murphy except Duda shows even less general athleticism and doesn’t slot in well to most NL teams plans unless it involved stashing him at 1B and hoping he...

Twitter Q&A: Spring Training, Duda, Wright & dimensions
Of the two, I’d go the week of February 27. It’s the best time to see everyone on the team, as they are engaged in organized workouts on the back fields at Digital Domain Park. Most of the players spend a tremendous amount of time signing autographs, posing for pictures, and talking with fans (typically after workouts conclude).
Pitchers and catchers will report to Spring Training...

SNY Why Guys: Projecting Lucas Duda
In a post to SNY Why Guys, Mike Salfino examines players whose rookie seasons took place at age 25 and produced an OPS+ of 130 or more, and in regards to Lucas Duda, Salfino says:
“Let’s just spitball this list and say there’s a 44% chance that Lucas Duda becomes a valuable asset for the next five years, a 25% chance he becomes a hitter comparable to at least Jason Bay and...

Does Lucas Duda’s defense determine 2012 decisions?
Lucas Duda has unquestionably been one of the bright spots for the Mets in 2011. Not many knew what to expect from Duda after his September call-up in 2010. He looked overmatched his first two weeks and then finished strong, yet his overall numbers for the Mets produced just a .678 OPS. Part of the reason for the skepticism is that Duda was never mentioned as one of the club’s...

Can Duda play right field as a regular?
Mets outfielder/first baseman Lucas Duda is quickly becoming one of my favorite players. He’s home grown, he’s come out of no where to play an important role on a plucky Mets team and most importantly, he’s got one of those names that you can type into the FanGraphs search box and not end up having to choose between the Lucas Duda who played from 2010-present and the one who...

Is Lucas Duda ready to bust out?
If you haven’t noticed, Carlos Beltran becoming official this week, Duda has firmly entrenched himself as the heir apparent in rightfield. It’s time to see if Duda, does in fact, have a potential long term future with the Mets.
As of Friday, Duda owns a respectable .283/.359/.465 slash line.
What Duda does remarkably well is get on base via the walk while making productive outs...
