Cleveland Indians designated Mark Grudzielanek for assignment

According to Anthony Castrovince of MLB.com, the Cleveland Indians have designated second baseman Mark Grudzielanek for assignment. In a parallel move, the team purchased the contract of Anderson Hernandez from Triple-A Columbus. Cleveland signed Grudzielanek to a Minor League contract last January. Grudzielanek, 39, appeared in 30 games for the Indians. He hit .273 with 11 RBIs.
