Gardy: 'We'll take our chances with (Capps)'
MINNEAPOLIS Matt Capps heard the boos. How could he not? He heard them on more than one occasion, raining down on him from the Minnesota Twins faithful at Target Field.
With closer Joe Nathan still recovering from 2010 Tommy John surgery, Capps was occasionally inserted into the ninth-inning role for Minnesota early in the 2011 season. But Capps struggled mightily. In a span of...

Twins reliever Capps ready to close in 2012
Back in the summer of 2010, Matt Capps was acquired by the Twins in a trade with the Washington Nationals for catcher Wilson Ramos and pitcher Joe Testa. Through Oct. 2 of that first year in Minnesota, Capps was brilliant, converting 16 of 18 save opportunities.
Once Joe Nathan returned Capps was happy to move to the set-up role for the Twins at the start of the 2011 season. However...

Twins bring back Matt Capps to close in 2012
When it was
announced that the Minnesota Twins
had a deal in place to bring back closer Matt Capps, the move has been met
with streams of vitriol for the obvious reasons.
The first and
foremost reason was that Capps’s 2011 season was a big bag of flaming poo.
Elevated back into the closer’s role after Joe Nathan returned prematurely from
Tommy John surgery, Capps struggled...

AP source: Twins keep Matt Capps for $4.75 million
A person familiar with the negotiations tells The Associated Press that closer Matt Capps and the Minnesota Twins have agreed to a $4.75 million, one-year contract.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity Monday because the deal had not yet been announced.
Capps gets $4.5 million this year, and the contract includes a $6 million option with a $250,000 buyout.
A 28-year-old...

Minnesota Twins Give Matt Capps One-Year Deal, We LOL
Well, it's not so much that we laughed out loud... it was more like a disgusted groan. Out loud. Then we chuckled at the absolute stupidity of the deal, and our rash belief that Terry Ryan was going to do anything to point the Minnesota Twins in the opposite direction of bad decisions.
Those feelings were the aftermath of the news that the club has re-signed that fat, save-blowing...

Minny trying to keep Capps
Twins are looking to re-sign Matt Capps, I'm getting a bit nervous that the numbers are just falling out of our favor in regards to getting a legitimate closer. There are still 6-7 teams looking and only 5-6 closers remaining. After that your going into the Branden Looper/Luis Ayala type situation, where your trying to make someone into a closer or give someone who failed at...

Mets maybe interested in Matt Capps...
The Mets maybe interested in Matt Capps, Adam Rubin caught up to the agent for Capps at the GM meetings and had the following to say;Paul Kinzer sees a match between client Matt Capps and the Mets, who need a closer. And Kinzer intimated there already had been dialogue between the parties.“Yeah, I could see it,” Kinzer said about a fit with the Mets.Asked if he had seen the interest...

Adjustment in approach may have sunk Capps
As Kelly Johnson’s grand slam sank deep into the right field bleachers and into the outstretched arms of the ecstatic Diamondback fans on Saturday night, you could see Matt Capps’s shoulders slump just a bit.
It was his second blown save in the past four attempts. It was his fourth home run of the season – three more than he allowed in a Twins uniform all last year.
I...

Matt Capps and the Bullpen
So, the Twins’ big move at the trading deadline was to shore up their bullpen. Fetch already weighed in with his opinion, and I agree that trading away a top prospect (especially a catching prospect) for what amounts to a middle reliever isn’t really a good deal. But, since there is no way to undo the deed, let’s look at how the addition of Matt Capps might affect...

Twins beat Mariners 5-3; closer Capps gets first Twins save
I sure like that Matt Capps. Bellyache all you want, but getting Capps for Ramos was a pretty sweet deal.
Capps didn’t pitch a flawless ninth inning for the Twins last night, but he pitched a scoreless one, and that’s all that matters when you’re going for a save. Capps gave up a two-out single to Figgins, but shut the rest of the Mariners down. If I do say so myself, the...
