Arizona Diamondbacks Add First Base Depth with Mike Jacobs Signing

Despite having second-year player Paul Goldschmidt and veteran and original Diamondback Lyle Overbay on the current roster at first base, Arizona added another option to the position on Wednesday by signing slugger Mike Jacobs to a minor league deal. The move was first reported by Baseball America and then followed up by Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic. Drafted by the New York...

Mets News(ish):Mike Jacobs Tests Positive for HGH, Released by Rockies

As Mets fans, for one reason or another, we seem to be VERY interested in what ex-Mets are doing.  We mostly do that in order to validate to ourselves good trades/releases, or to stoke the fire and get pissed about about a bad trade/release.  So, here’s something interesting to not be pissed about… #bbpBox_104189521788272641 a { text-decoration:none; color:#0084B4; }#bbpBox_10418952178827264...

With Mike Jacobs Gone, Who Will Play 1B for the Las Vegas 51s in 2011?

Some earth shattering Jays news was revealed today by Troy Renck of the Denver Post on Twitter where, according to a source, Minor League first baseman Mike Jacobs has signed a Minor League deal with the Colorado Rockies. For those who might not recognize Jacobs’ name, he was acquired by the Blue Jays on July 30th, one day after GM Alex Anthopoulos traded first baseman Brett...

Mets trade Mike Jacobs for Player to be named Later

Jacobs who is 29 began the season as the Mets First baseman when Daniel Murphy got hurt, but after a slow start was demoted to AAA-Buffalo, paving way to Ike Davis who is AWESOME. Jacobs was hitting .260/.313/.478 for Buffalo with 23 doubles and 15 homers. It has been reported that Nick Evans has been promoted...

Interesting read on Mike Jacobs...

I don't have that big problem with Mike Jacobs being on this team, my issue is more with why Chris Carter isn't on the team. Between Jacobs, Tatis and Cattalanotto someone should have been sacrificed to make room for Carter.Anthony DiComo of mets.com has a great artcile on Jacobs today. After barely making the team and then being given a starting spot when Murphy went down...

Thoughts on Jacobs...

Here's the thing, if Mike Jacobs is in the line-up he needs to hit clean-up but that doesn't make him the ideal clean-up hitter. Jacobs is the only lefty who can be placed between your two big righties but he also needs the protection those two give him. To put him lower in the order with Frenchy and Barajas could result in a lot of nine pitch, three K innings. Still Jake...
