Jones Third Slam Boosts Albuquerque

Albuquerque scored six in the first inning and went on to an 8-4 win over Reno as Mitch Jones banged his third grand slam of the season. A solo home run in the last of the ninth topped Chattanooga 2-1. Inland Empire lost their 11th game against four wins in August, 8-1 to Bakersfield. Dodgers Call Up 31-Year-Old Rookie Mitch Jones

Quad-A slugger Mitch Jones got a taste of the majors as the Dodgers purchased the contract of the 31-year-old rookie in time for last night's game; he got a pinch-hit appearance in but struck out swinging. The Dodgers moved Jason Schmidt to the 60-day DL to make room for him on the 40-man roster.
