NATE SCHIERHOLTZ RUMORS

Giants, Schierholtz avoid arbitration; Lincecum submits record bid

The Giants’ list of arbitration-eligible players is now down to three. San Francisco avoided arbitration with right fielder Nate Schierholtz today as the two sides agreed on a one-year, $1.3 million dollar contract that includes a $150,000 performance-incentive bonus, per Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News. Schierholtz, who turns 28 on Feb. 15, batted .278/.326/...

Baseball’s Hottest Wives Nominee: Kate Eveland

Giants outfielder Nate Schierholtz recently got married to former San Diego State basketball player Kate Eveland.  Eveland is a 5′ 8″ guard who graduated from the Aztecs basketball team in 2008. Schierholtz, 27, met Eveland, 25, prior to the start of the 2009 season.  Eveland, a business consultant, is not the only person in the relationship who got a ring.  Schierholtz...

2011 Season in Review: Nate Schierholtz

One of the only bright spots of this year’s offense was Nate Schierholtz, who had somewhat of a breakout. It wasn’t a spectacular season, but he managed to post a pretty respectable .278/.326/.430 before his season was cut short due to injuries. Around late June, Schierholtz altered his batting stance, and shortly thereafter, he got red-hot: from June 25 to July 10, he...

Splash Hits: Schierholtz, Panik, Cabrera

Eric Surkamp is in the midst of his major-league debut right now, which is pretty awesome. In 142.1 innings at Double-A Richmond this year, he’s posted a 2.02 ERA — backed by a 2.37 FIP. I profiled Surkamp back in July; needless to say, it’ll be exciting to see how he fares tonight. In the meantime, some links… Giants Giants send Nate Schierholtz to DL with...

Nate Schierholtz and His Brand New Swing

One of the best stories of this season (non-Vogelsong category) is Nate Schierholtz’ magical transformation into a serviceable everyday player.  For a large part of his career, let’s say all of it, Schierholtz has been somewhat of an afterthought.  There was a time way back in the day where I was of the mind that John Bowker was the solution in right field and that...

Is Nate Schierholtz the Giants MVP?

Last night's game was amazing. It had a 3 run comeback, multiple lead changes, and extra innings. Through all of that, one guy emerged as the star. Nate Schierholtz. I seriously believe that this guy is the Giants' MVP so far. At least as far as position players go. Nobody else on this team has contributed offensively, defensively, and on the basepaths. OK well...

Nate Schierholtz Pack Your Bags

The end appears to be near for local kid Nate Schierholtz. Jerry Crasnick is reporting the the Giants are sending out feelers to get an idea of the return possible for Schierholtz. This is sad but you really had to see it coming. There is almost no way that the Giants would cut Aaron Rowand and his trade value with the albatross contract is probably zero without paying for just...

The brother of San Francisco Giants outfielder Nate Schierholtz was sentenced Wednesday to a year in county jail and five years probation for drunken driving and injuring four people in a series of hit-and-run crashes in Danville this past summer. Cainan Schierholtz, 23, was driving with a 0.19 blood alcohol level -- more than twice the legal limit -- when he struck a bicyclist...
