Have the Astros completed their search for a 5th starter? I don’t know. But they certainly got closer. The Astros announced this afternoon they’ve signed Nelson Figueroa to a one year, $900,000 contract. Nelson Figueroa is like a Chuck Berry song; An oldie but a goodie. Going into tonight’s game, the 36-yr old Figueroa had a 3.51 ERA in 28 games for the Phillies and Astros, including 8 starts. Injury Update: Durbin to DL, Figueroa called up
Ryan Lawrence is reporting, via Twitter, that reliever Chad Durbin has beenplaced on the disabled list. Lawrence also noted that Nelson Figueroa has been spotted at Citizens Bank Park, and it is expected that he will fill the roster spot in the bullpen.

Nelson Figueroa Designated For Assignment
The Phillies designated pitcher Nelson Figueroa for assignment to make room for Brad Lidge, reports MLB.com's Todd Zolecki. Matt Gelb of the Philadelphia Inquirer writes that Figueroa isn't sure whether he'll accept a minor league assignment if he clears waivers. Nelson Figueroa did a nice job filling in for the Mets, but that's exactly what he is, a fill-in. What makes Figgy valuable is that he has a rubber arm that can be used in the rotation or the pen.
